Keeping House at William Cowe & Sons

In 2012, as part of conservation work in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Cumbrian poet Jacob Polley and film-maker Ian Fenton were invited to document the maze of shops and living spaces that make up William Cowe and Sons, a family business dating back to 1801.

Commissioned by Northumberland County Council’s At the Crossroads; heart of Berwick upon Tweed Townscape Heritage Initiative,  Keeping House is an evocative documentary exploring the beguiling atmospheres of the William Cowe & Sons cockle shop.
