On my Radar: Jacob Polley’s Cultural Highlights

On 29th January 2017, The Guardian’s series on looking into one person’s snapshot of their cultural life focused on recent TS Eliot prizewinner Jacob Polley.

Jacob’s cultural landmarks begin with The British Museum where you can hear ‘the machine of time on spin cycle, vibrating the styli, cups and coins on the worktops of civilisations whose citizens never dreamed that the centre would not hold.’

It ends with the space provided by public libraries where ‘I’m looking something up in an old newspaper, sometimes I’m working at a table, and sometimes I just go because it’s a public space full of books and I’m welcome.’
